Helmet Types
There are many different helmet types used around the world today and because of that helmets are a general fashion group are some of the highest selling items around. Many people use helmets for specific purposes while other people use them for general purposes and depending on which of these groups you fit into, the different helmets that you buy will be helmets that factor into your life in different ways. Listed below are some of the major helmet types. Safety Helmets These are helmets that have been created in some way, shape, or form in order to help a person with their personal safety when they are performing some recreational activity. The most common type of safety helmet sold around the world today is the bicycle helmet and close after that is the motorcycle helmet. There are helmets available for activities ranging from skateboarding to white water rafting and because of that there are so many people around that have purchased a safety helmet at some point in their life. Sporting Helmets These are very similar to safety helmets, but the one distinction between the two helmet types is the fact that the sporting helmets are specifically used in organized sporting events. American football sporting teams wear helmets, as to athletes that play ice hockey around the world. Cricket players and baseball players when they are up to bat also wear helmets, so sporting helmets do get a lot of play around the world today. Decorative Helmets These are helmets that don’t really serve any functional purpose whatsoever. People buy these helmets in order to put them up on their wall in some sort of decorative fashion or alternatively to place them at some focal point in the room so that people will be able to see them. These helmet types are purely intended to add to the decorative value of a room and therefore do little else but look good (which in itself is a useful function to some people). Ceremonial/Costume Helmets These are a lot like decorative helmets and indeed the two helmet types are not entirely exclusive. A large number of decorative helmets are ceremonial helmets as well. Ceremonial or costume helmets are helmets that have been used by a culture in a specific dress or ceremony historically speaking or alternatively they are helmets that people use in costumes today. If you find a helmet, chances are that it will fit into one of the four categories mentioned here and if it doesn’t then it is part of a very small miscellaneous super minority of helmets.
