Knight Helmets
It has been hundreds of years since the Middle Ages and Medieval times, but still, every little girl dreams of her knight in shining armor. While the knight in shining armor is the stuff of fairy tales today, knights in shining armor were a reality in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Middle Ages were times of war between regions and countries, thus heavy armor was needed for bodily protection. A knight’s helmet and armor was his main protection against injury. Main features of this body armor worn were knight helmets. Knight Helmets For Protection Body armor was incredibly heavy, yet effective during the Middle Ages. The knight’s helmet provided excellent protection for his head in battle and in war. The Medieval knight helmet was typically made with heavy steel. When in full armor regalia, the knight was weighed down by the metal and had to learn how to fight, move, and even walk in the body armor and knight helmets they were required to wear. This training took weeks, even months. Even though knight helmets were extremely heavy, they were extremely effective. Knights’ helmets helped to identify what type of knight was under the armor and even the area or kingdom he was from. The style and design of the knight helmet would vary from region to region; however, the function of Medieval knight helmets was always to protect the knight during battle from serious head injury, or even death. Knight Helmets For Fun Knight helmets that were worn by knights hundreds of years ago fascinate many children and adults alike even to this day. Middle age knight helmets are featured aspects of home décor, costumes, and art of all kinds. Today, instead of providing excellent head protection, a knight helmet can be used as a novel gift or even a home accessory. Even though many knight helmets are manufactured as decoration today, many are made to be full size and can be worn. Additionally, knight helmets are a source of fun for adults and children alike. There are many coloring books and online sources that feature Knights’ helmets coloring pages that children enjoy coloring and decorating. For school reports and papers, there is plenty of Knights’ helmet clipart to help illustrate the pages with examples. Another modern day use of knight helmets is for party fun. There are many Medieval-themed parties, and some children even enjoy wearing knights’ party helmets rather than regular cone-shaped party hats.
